Palomino Blackwing 602 Firm Pencils WBK Eraser
This is my second box; I needed replace those that I've given away to friends and family members who borrowed a pencil and were wowed. These write smoothly, have ample erasers, sharpen well, and are of high quality. Although they are expensive, they are the best pencils I've used.

Great writing pencil, eraser lacking
What can I say, I'm still one of the young adults out there who prefers to write with a quality pencil as to a pen or mechanical pencil. These pencils are smooth, dark, and smell great. Paint job is very thick and shiny! Pencil writes like a nice gel pen.
The only thing lacking about this pencil is the eraser. For such a quality writing pencil and frankly expensive pencil, the eraser should be of a better quality. I always use an independent eraser as to the one on the pencil. So palomino if you are reading this review, please make the eraser better!!!

A nostalgic favorite
My dad loved these pencils years ago as a draftsman, and I remember using them as a child. They don't roll away! I ordered a box and split them with my dad, who was surprised to see them again.
Twenty dollars seems high for a dozen pencils, even compared to other quality brands.

Love this pencil. Doesn't cause writing fatique because it writes so smoothly. They are pricey but I think they're worth it. I bought two boxes. I'm a writing teacher and I like writing in pencil (vs pen). Levenger delivery is super fast. Got Fed Ex delivery in 2 days.

This pencil writes so easy. I love the gentle quality. Its perfect! I love the act of writing with fountain pens but after trying the Blackwing 602 I've switched over.

Writing should have a style, these pencils supply the style. Witting should be smooth the Blackwing supply the smooth.
That feel when you write, the look, old school class and function. They came through.

I thought they might be too firm, but they are just write! Your writing will appear crisp but the lead allows your own writing style to come out.

It's the Write Choice
I am a writer. And when I first read the history of the Palomino Blackwing 602, I was intrigued. What writer doesn't want to connect--even superficially--with the greats like Hemingway and Steinbeck. Writing is about ritual and dreams almost as much as it about hard work and dedication.
Well the Blackwing 602 doesn't disappoint on either front. It's a reliable workhorse that i enjoy using every day. My hand doesn't cramp when I write for long periods. And the little long point sharpener is handy. I can pick it up and sharpen my pencil without getting up and going to the pencil sharpener and can be thinking about my next thought even as I use the sharpener. It's as if sharpening the pencil is part of the ritual.
I like the way the Blackwing 602 performs so much that I'm giving them out to my writing friends this Christmas. And I love what the Blackwing 602 represents. I feel as though I'm using a little touch of history.
Thank you for bringing this back. The pencil has replaced my fountain pen as writing instrument of choice for first drafts.

An Exceptional Pencil
I have been very pleased with these pencils. The lead is a bit softer than I usually use, stays sharpened longer, doesn't easily break with pressure, nice balance. Although one doesn't need the Palomino Long Point Sharpener, it is definitely worth the money in return for the great point that results.

I don't understand the hype around this product. I was disappointed to say the least. The pencils are promised to write more smoothly and at a quicker pace. I did not find that to be the case. I use them on my Circa agenda, which contains a good quality paper. I see no difference whatsoever between these pencils and the highest priced standard pencils I buy at the office supply store. In fact, I like the others better! I also bought the sharpener, which was equally disappointing.
