Very smooth lefty pen Being left handed, I have been disappointed with many fountain pens I've tried. I find their fine nibs often too scratchy and medium nibs producing lines thicker than I prefer. I read about the smoothness of the Sailor 1911S and was anxious to try it. Well, it delivers. The medium nib is not only smooth, it also puts down a line that's closer to European fine nib. The pen is equally well behaved when pushing or pulling the nib and hasn't yet skipped on my upstrokes or downstrokes. Finally, the pen is beautifully made. August 20, 2014
Beautiful and writes like a dream I purchased the blue pen, and it is a very attractive, deep shade of blue. I have been looking for a long time for a smooth writing Fine nib pen, and this one is it. When it first arrived it was just a little "scratchy", but that has melted away very quickly, and, other than on rough paper where you would expect a fine nib pen to have some texture issues, it writes very smoothly. The line is very fine, so this is a true "fine" nib. I have large hands, so I find I have to post the cap to be truly comfortable, but I still like it just as it is. Since I prefer bottled ink, I don't have any issue with prices of cartridges (I think they're all too expensive!), and I've found the converter that ships with the Sailor works just fine - it fills easily, and regulates the flow to the paper just right. I'm very pleased. Finally a fine nib pen I can enjoy! March 22, 2014
Great pen with a fantastic nib Love this pen already. I have a few pilot pens so I know how well Japanese nibs are made. Sailor makes some of the best nibs in the world and their fine is really fine. I got the red one with the black trim. Elegant. And the best part is I grabbed this baby on sale for a ridiculously low price. Thank you Levenger. January 6, 2014
Good Japanese pen I love the feel of this pen and the blue color. The web site picture does not do justice to the blue color of this pen. With the pen capped, I really like the size; if I didn't post my cap I think I might find the pen a bit small. The fine nib is definitely finer than a MontBlanc fine. I'm finding it a little stiffer than expected, but it may just need some breaking in. Wish that Levenger had had the pen available in the medium-fine nib. July 7, 2013
Like the pen a lot The pen feels a bit on the light side in weight. It does not feel as solid as others such as Waterford fountain pens. The overall feeling of it, nevertheless, is quite satisfying. One notable thing is that the refill cartriges are pricy compared to other brands. But I do enjoy writing with this pen a lot. I'd have to say it's money well spent. May 11, 2013
